Richard Chai is a New York designer of mens and womenswear. While studying fashion at Parsons School of Design and the Lissa School in Paris, Chai gained experience interning at Geoffrey Beene and working at Lanvin, setting the foundation for his take on American sportswear and talent for construction. After school, Chai spent time at various New York fashion houses including DKNY, TSE, and Marc Jacobs where he became the design director and helped to launch the Marc by Marc Jacobs mens line.

He established Richard Chai in 2004 with his first womens wear runway collection presented in Spring 2005. The Richard Chai menswear collection was launched in June 2008 during Paris Men's Fashion Week. His latest line Richard Chai Love is often referred to as the "girlfriend" to his mens contemporary line - an easy, tomboyish mix of slouchy trousers and pretty silk pieces all featuring the designer's precise tailoring and unique point of view.

Chai was awarded with Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award in 2005, and was inducted as a member of the CFDA in 2007, as well as being selected as a finalist for the 2008 CFDA/Vogue Fund., Richard Chai is a New York designer of mens and womenswear.
