Lee Spring/Summer 2010 collection is inspired by Lee’s heritage and the three brand pillars of Lee’s history: workwear, western wear and smart looks. Each delivery takes a specific aspect of Lee’s innovative past and brings it up to date in look and style.
Union Allers – begins with a fresh take on rich workwear heritage; rejuvenated revivals of the first clothing that the H.D Lee Company made -- two archetypal Lee designs: The Union-All and Whizit Bib.
The Union-All began life in 1913 as a denim jacket and pants sewn together became worker’s favourite uniform. Styling inspiration is taken from James Dean’s movie “East of Eden”.
The Whizit Bib born in 1925 was a next-generation overall, revolutionary for incorporating a hot new invention: the zipper. The Whizit’s unrivalled practicality made it an instant hit.
Other key pieces from the Lee archive, like the 401 Jacket and the Carpenter Pant are the heart of this delivery; robust workwear reinvented for the modern fashion consumers.
These refreshed masterpieces are the combination of authenticity and contemporary, fully supported by a range of T-shirts printed with historical worker images, plus hard-wearing worker shirts.
Westerners – is influenced by Lee’s American-Western roots and focuses on Western wear. Inspirational garments are Lee’s slim Rider jacket 101J, which is introduced in 1931, and the slim-fitting 101 Rider pants: renowned as the best-fitting cowboy jeans on the market.
Two silver screen idols inspire the look and attitude: James Dean in “Giant” & Marilyn Monroe in “The Misfits”. Today’s Westerners delivery remarks Rider jackets in a variety of finishes and fabrics, mixing them with Western-inspired shirts and slim jeans rich in Lee’s DNA detailing, including the iconic Lee asymmetric back pocket, Lazy S stitching, Beltloop construction, rivet positioning on the seams, Hip pocket label, cross tacks and original leather patch.
50s Preppies - Lee’s fertile 1950s heritage and launches 50S Preppies. James Dean’s movie “Rebel Without a Cause” is the inspiration for menswear while Marilyn Monroe remains the icon: her East Coast casual wardrobe from the 1950s provides a legendary look for the inspiration of the womenswear.
Alongside classic jeans, Lee made “comfort clothes for work and play”, which included smart, non-denim pieces made in twill. The chino emerged as a wonderful alternative to jeans or dress trousers, and the leisure age began. The styling is old school Americana, archetypal preppy. Chinos return in classic fits or with a modern twist.
Rockers – a high summer package is also included in Lee Spring/Summer collection. Bleached and sun-faded effects on cropped denims rub against rock print Tees and checked, and “greaser” shirts celebrate a music festival in hot summer season!
From durable, comfortable denim, to sleek Western styles to smart-casual looks to rock n roll energy, Spring/Summer 2010 collection is definitely a stunning and iconic collection that shows Lee in full bloom.

The bilateral trade between India and China has increased manifold in recent years. But imports from China mainly constitute finished good products, while exports from India to China are mostly raw materials, like raw cotton and yarn, when considering shipments from the textile value-chain.
Experts are of the opinion that China has a big manufacturing setup, which along with being quality conscious is also extremely cost-competitive in production of finished goods, which gives it the edge in the global markets, vis-à-vis countries like India and other Asian countries.
According to them, Indian cotton and cotton yarn is of world-class quality, the reason for which, the Chinese prefer to import these from India. They add by saying that if we decide not to export these materials, the focus of the Chinese textile importers could shift to other countries, with similar capabilities.
Speaking to Fibre2fashion Mr DK Nair, Secretary General of Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) said that, China is a very competitive country in manufacturing of apparels and does not need to import the same, while it is hungry for the raw materials required to feed the sector”.
The bilateral trade value between the two countries is growing at a very fast pace and diplomatic relation notwithstanding, bilateral trade between India and China is growing by more than 50 percent year-on-year and is slated to cross the $100-billion mark in three years.
From the underwear brand that brought men the health-improving Core Precision Undershirt, comes technical "health-wear" for the feet. The developers at Equmen have found that daily compression products can benefit men from top to toe, and are introducing Precision Socks: stylish, health-improving socks designed to energise even the most lethargic of legs.
"Whether you are sitting at a desk all day, out on the golf course, travelling or simply on the go, often times your feet will feel achy or even swollen," says Equmen MD, Gavin Jones. "There is an easy solution: compression socks. Wearing compression socks on a daily basis can help increase blood flow, more evenly distribute muscle strain and help legs feel less fatigued."
Sporting a classic look infused with benefits, Equmen Precision Socks are cushioned support socks that incorporate the company's proprietary Helix-Mapping System. The athletic-inspired technology wraps around the arch for extra support while precision fit fabric applies therapeutic pressure to help improve the flow of oxygen in the blood and remove toxins from the muscles, thereby relieving fatigue and cramping. The sock also channels air, wicks moisture and boasts a reinforced construction designed to stay put.
Given research demonstrating the impact of compression socks on leg health in long-haul flights, the Precision Socks are especially ideal for the business traveler.
"In men's fashion, socks are a key accessory to any look," says Equmen MD Gavin Jones. "We want to take it up a notch and make socks that are not just about looking good, but feeling good. Sport socks are infused with advanced performance technologies – Equmen makes such technologies available to wear all the time, without ruining your style."

Prom season is almost here and right on cue, Fashionclub.com, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising's website for teens, has launched their annual Prom Trends Forecast. This year the focus is on four fashion trends: relaxed elegance, old Hollywood glam, classic charm, and rocker chic, with iconic couples from the past serving as inspiration for each of the four looks.
FashionClub.com researched the upcoming season's most trend-savvy prom looks through predictive trend publications. The FIDM Library subscribes to over $100,000 worth of forecasting subscriptions in a single year all of which are exclusively available to students at the fashion school.
Trend #1: Relaxed elegance is inspired by Daisy and Gatsby from F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" set in the 1920s. The look is sundrenched, airy, and elegant sheer, beaded dresses, cascading pearls, and oversized hair accessories. Just look to "Gossip Girl" for the modern day equivalent.
Trend #2: Old Hollywood glam can best be seen on Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall from the 1940s. Simple silhouettes in gem tones and subdued satins are the trademarks of this look quietly understated like "Twilight's" Bella and Edward.
Trend #3: Classic charm is based on the lovable Lucy and Ricky Ricardo from the 1950s TV show "I Love Lucy." This look is marked by feminine, tea-length, cinched-at-the-waist dresses and boxy suits—as seen on today’s cute indie couple Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard.
Trend #4: Rocker chic is inspired by the edgy Mick and Bianca Jagger of the 1970s. Identified by long, clingy dresses and flashy accessories, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz favor this look and continue to set new style boundaries.
FashionClub.com is able to showcase the hottest, up to the minute teen prom fashions by working with some of Hollywood's most stylish make-up artists, stylists, photographers and set designers, many of whom are graduates of FIDM's degree programs.
With four dynamic California campuses, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is the premier west coast fashion design college, educating for careers in fashion, graphic design, interior design, and entertainment. FIDM's graduates include renowned fashion designers like Monique Lhuillier, Emmy and Academy Award award-winning costume designers, top fashion industry executives, and entrepreneurs.
Penelope Cruz doesn't like wearing necklaces on the red carpet.
The stunning Spanish actress isn't a fan of neck accessories and instead prefers to don exquisite pieces of jewellery in her ears and on her arms and hands, a look she personified at this year's Oscars.
The dark-haired beauty looked breathtaking in her Donna Karan Bordeaux duchess satin gown, which was complemented by her Chopard jewellery.
The renowned jewellers had designed her 18-carat diamond chandelier earrings, lots of diamond bracelets and a large 16-carat diamond ring, which were all worth several million dollars.
Raffaella Rossiello, the international communication director for Chopard, said: "There's a huge amount of competition between the jewellery houses over which celebrities wear their brand, so it helps if you understand the stars' styles. We've worked with Penelope before, so we know that she isn't a fan of necklaces, but she adores diamond drop earrings and bracelets."
However, although they have a good working relationship with Penelope, Raffaella admits there was some last minute stresses.
She told Britain's Grazia magazine: "We spent weeks matching jewels to the various gowns she was considering but it still came down to a last minute drama! Like most stars, Penelope didn't make a final decision on her dress and accessories until the night before the Oscars and even then she wanted to remove some of the diamonds from her earrings. So we quickly altered them then delivered them to her on the morning of the ceremony. Very stressful!"

In a bid to grab a bigger pie of the world-wide textile and clothing market, particularly the lucrative Latin American markets, the Indian textile industry is hosting two exhibitions in the region and will witness participation of 22 Indian companies.
The first of these Mega Textile & Clothing Exhibitions will be held in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, between March 25 and 26 and in Sao Paulo, Brazil between March 29 and 30, which is being coordinated by the Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC).
These fairs are being held in order to access these lucrative regions, which have not been focus markets till date. Annual textile and clothing import bill of Brazil touches around Rs 172 billion and that of Argentina Rs 72 billion.
Of these, India’s share in imports by Brazil and Argentina stands at only 12 percent and 6 percent, respectively, which reveals the remarkable scope for growing India’s exports of textiles and clothing to these markets.
Coming from a break from fashion shows, Rehane excitedly states, “It is more than just coincidence that every time I go to the sketch-pad for my Autumn/Winter collections my inspiration comes from the cultural roots of various cities across the globe. This time’s collection for WIFW Autumn/Winter 2010 has been inspired by all things ‘Asia Minor’. The collection is called ‘ANATOLIA’ which is a geographic and historical term denoting the westernmost protrusion of Asia, comprising about two-thirds of the modern Republic of Turkey.”
The silhouette is in keeping with modernity, yet there are opulent excesses seen throughout the collection in one form or another. The look is Bold & Without fear, which is truly Rehane’s signature, with Dollops of the exotic & mysterious. A modern day ‘Sherzade’ would perhaps be the best Muse for Anatolia.
Rehane adds, “Without culture, and the relative freedom it implies, society, even when perfect, is but a jungle. This is why any authentic creation is a gift to the future. And to a great extend this is why I love to see my collection to be worn by musicians, poets, authors, artists and all creative people! All of us have a creative streak; some know it and some use it successfully.”
The colors used for the ANATOLIA collection are Snuff, Poppy, Salmon, Deep Aqua, Turkish blue and Antique Gold. The cuts are very structured yet complimenting the female silhouette. The fabrics used vary from Jacquard to Satin and Velvet to Georgettes.
Her designs enhance everyday life… an ideal refinement for females to conquer chic city life and timeless elegance. Rehane specializes primarily in diffusion wear, but her label is also highly sought after for trousseaus for the modern bride. Rehane’s master pieces are feminine, elegant, playful and chic.
In 2004, Rehane launched prêt line RYD that caters to young and free spirited. This line is easy on the pockets and heavy on style. The latest edition to Rehane’s brand is a range of hand crafted genuine leather handbags made of vegetable tanned leather. She has supplied clothes to giant companies like West side and Lifestyle for a couple of seasons. She is also participating in the Indian Premier London Fashion Week this season.
Rehane is cued on to international trends and designs for the global apparel market. Her strategy for the future growth is not only to retail from well profiled stores across the world, but more importantly to have her brand franchise stand alone stores. She has full confidence in her production capacity, finish, price and delivery. As global competition grows Rehane’s market share has also grown equally proving that she understands the global client.
Rehane is currently the strongest designer in the south retails from her flagship store in Chennai and also from select outlets across India.
Evoluzione in Bangalore, Aza in Mumbai and Delhi, Indiva in Toronto are the stores she is currently retailing out of apart from her Flagship store!
