Aimed at our self assured, sophisticated customer looking for statement pieces for both day and night, this collection perfectly compliments the Pepe Jeans premium denim collection: ‘Seventy Three’.73 Denim - Womenswear Collection
Inspiration is taken from key eras in rock and roll from 60’s and 70’s bohemian rock to 80’s and 90’s heavy metal. Every piece is sexy, and has attitude. A washed leather band leader jacket can be worn with a flowing fringed dress and vintage jeans. A studded biker waistcoat can be thrown over a customized rock t-shirt and leopard print leggings…and all the combinations in between. Fabrics are soft and fluid, or skin tight. Styles are richly embellished with, studs, chains, beads, sequins, fringes and lace up details. Graphics are influenced by classic rock album cover art. Colours include rock staples of Black, smoky grey and white updated by dusky pinks and blues, champagne and deep purples.
73 Denim - Menswear Collection

It takes its styling and washing direct from authentic workwear garments which when combined with its modern fits make it accessible and desirable to today’s denim enthusiast. Spring/Summer 2010 Menswear Collection
- CLASSIC -

from reinvented classics to detail rich garments. This is the range of Pepe Jeans garments that every man should have in his wardrobe, easy to combine with jeans or chinos and items from the rest of the collection comprising of light to medium weight fabrics suitable for spring summer and improving washes for that more authentic Pepe Jeans look and feel.
- LONDON -
The London collection continues to develop with its rugged and authentic fastidious use of detail, each garment encompasses the ethos of inner city life with a colour palette comprising of these influences. Whilst there are elements of a familiar rock n’ roll sensibility with a refining visible glimpse of the vintage union jack throughout, there is a great fusion of modern verses historic, blurring the line of old and new. Inspiration comes from the wealth of detail found in authentic work wear, hunting apparel and military uniforms, recovering old details and blending them to generate and engineer fresh and innovative ideas in the constant pursuit of authenticity.
- OXBRIDGE COLLECTION -
Pepe’s Oxbridge collection captures the essence of a fictional collegiate life. Inspiration evolves from the slant of sporting team players: rugby and athletics, to quickly encompass and capture other areas of this lifestyle on and around campus. Silhouettes are essentially casual, pieces being easily worn as stand alone items or working well as layered considered looks.
Detailing has been taken from authentic collegiate sportswear- the classic striped rugby, the track vest and team hoodies. As well as attention to original varsity styling, care has been taken to re-create the aged washing found during research of these pieces. With the pallete comprising of rich brights-masculine traditional sporting colours- updated with edges of fresh accent and bursts of embellished detail Oxbridge has a bouyant and upbeat feel essential to the summer market.
Tabio, the Japanese sock specialty store established since 1968, announces the release of its new range of sports socks. Designed in collaboration with top athletes, the Tabio Sports Socks range combines the latest fibre technology with the technical brilliance of Japanese craftsmanship to help runners and other athletes around the world improve their performance.
“The Tabio Sports range is truly revolutionary – Japanese athletes have been benefitting from the socks and now we are genuinely thrilled to offer them to the rest of the world”, says Matthew Drinkwater, Operations Director at Tabio.
Renowned for its technical brilliance and an attention to detail that is unsurpassed in the industry, Tabio is the leading destination for the highest quality socks. The new Tabio Sports Socks range expands on this reputation, featuring three revolutionary designs for both men and women -- Racing Run, Racing Run Toe Socks and Racing Run Tabi Socks. Each sock design features unique characteristics and details to offer wearers optimum athletic performance. In addition, each design is constructed from polyester to enhance sweat absorbency, to dry and wick away moisture quickly and efficiently, and to provide a deodorant effect.
Tabio’s Racing Run socks are the result of a joint development project with top Japanese marathon runner Satoshi Osaki and are exclusively designed to support high performance. Featuring Tabio’s knit technology, the Racing Run socks are knit from a 3D sewing method to provide a direct supporting structure to the arch of the feet and to wrap and support the feet in their natural form. The socks feature a mesh function to both release heat from the feet and minimize sweating. An arch support function helps minimize stress on the feet, while an L heel structure provides a wide space for the heel and helps prevents the socks from slipping off. Skidproof technology further prevents the wearer’s feet from moving around inside trainers. The socks also offer enhanced nylon support and slit support, providing extra elasticity while allowing the feet to “breathe.”
The highly functional Racing Run Toe Socks, developed to meet the requirements of extreme performance, are the second product in Tabio’s new range. These toe socks, specially designed for running, feature the same 3D knit construction, arch support, skidproof technology and mesh function of the Racing Run sock, yet are designed to individually fit each toe on the wearer’s foot. As a result, the wearer’s feet are wrapped and supported in their natural form. In addition, Racing Run Toe Socks feature a Y heel structure, which provides a wide space for the heel and prevents socks from slipping off.
Tabio’s Racing Run Tabi Socks are hugely popular amongst top athletes. Originally introduced as a limited edition, Tabio has brought the socks back due to strong demand. The Racing Run Tabi Socks are produced to meet the high demands of top athletes.
These unique socks separate the “big toe” from the wearer’s other toes, giving the wearer more control and extra thrust while running. As with the other new styles, Racing Run Tabi Socks also retain the key features of mesh function, arch support and skidproof technology. In addition, these socks feature a mesh structure designed to maintain the correct fit to the wearer’s ankles and enhanced nylon support for improved endurance. The L heel structure of these socks provides a wide space for the heel and keeps the socks in place. Racing Run Tabi Socks also feature an improved linking method between the toe parts, designed to rid the bulky feel of ordinary socks and provide maximum comfort.
Gearing up for to the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22nd, 2010, Sama Baby celebrates their new organic denim line, a new addition to their line of organic cotton children's clothes. “Every day is Earth Day here at the Sama Baby office, so when everyone else in the word decides to join in we just get all tickled inside,” explained CEO of Sama Baby, Shivani Gupta.
Sama Baby’s organic denim line will be exploding onto the children’s fashion scene in March 2010 and will be available nationwide just in time for Earth Day, April 22nd, 2010. Their jeans are high quality, organic, and affordable, much like the rest of their line. The denim line ranges from 12 months - 6 years old. “People ask me why we use 100% organic cotton and the highest standards when creating our garments. They say the designs are so adorable they will sell themselves, but that’s not enough for us. Yes, we want to create beautiful garments but not at the expense of our planet. We want to do our part. I know Sama can make a difference,” explained Head Designer Neha Gupta.
SAMA is an ancient Sanskrit word that means balance, calmness, and serenity - and at Sama Baby it means everything. Sama Baby follows the highest standards for organic cotton garments like using eco-friendly dyes, an environmentally-safe dying processes, and biodegradable bags to store their fabrics. Their line is sold nationwide at Whole Foods Markets and available online at www.SamaBaby.com. Staying true to their heritage, the Gupta’s produce Sama Baby products in India where the family frequently visits their cotton fields and oversees production. All of their products are fair trade and their farmers use organic vegetables as their rotation crop to replenish the soil and feed the cotton farmers. Shivani is proud member of The Organic Trade Association and Co-op America and she also supports a Florida non-profit called Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies.
Earth Day started as a grass roots movement back in 1970 and has continued to grow with millions of participants worldwide. Sama Baby is at the eco forefront when it comes to organic baby clothing explaining, “There are many steps we can take to improve the way we live, and preserve our planet. Why not start with your children’s clothes?”
With the textile and garment making industry undergoing tremendous change in the light of globalisation and current economic challenges, CEMATEX is making a concerted effort to support manufacturers with a solutions platform that will help the industry stay focused and competitive.
In line with this value proposition, the expanded product index of ITMA 2011 includes a dedicated chapter on garment making technologies and machinery. Embroidery and braiding equipment will also have their own separate chapters.
CEMATEX Secretary General Ms Maria Avery, said: “The ITMA brand was established in 1951, and is very well known and respected in the classical textile machinery sector. Although we have always showcased garment making machinery, we have greatly enhanced its profile for the 2011 show, adding many new categories to our Index of Products and featuring the sector in our Forum which will take place during the show. “With the industry keen on exploring end-to-end solutions, our ITMA show provides a one-stop business platform for buyers and sellers to meet and discuss exciting opportunities.”
“In the past, sewing machinery and accessories were grouped together under the making-up sector. With this re-classification, we are now ramping our efforts to engage major garment industry players from around the world,”explained Ms Sylvia Phua, Chief Executive Officer, MP International which is organising ITMA 2011.
Lauding this move, Mr. Rahul Mehta, President of the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), stated: “In the midst of a more challenging global business landscape, CMAI is very concerned about building the competitive advantage of our sector. Investing in more advanced technology and more efficient solutions is the best way to boost our members’ productivity and competitiveness.
“Hence, an important objective of our association is to help Indian garment manufacturers keep abreast of the latest technological developments in garment-making. Established industry platforms like ITMA are very important and we are delighted to know that ITMA 2011 will focus its attention on garment and textile processing machinery. We hope to encourage a large contingency of our members to attend the show to source the latest machinery, and to meet and interact with thought leaders.”
CMAI has been the leading pioneer and most representative association of the Indian apparel industry for over four decades. It represents over 20,000 companies, including readymade garment manufacturers, exporters, retailers and ancillary industry.
Mr Benny Soetrisno, Chairman of Indonesian Textile Association and Vice Chairman of ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries, said: “While automation is not the primary answer to staying competitive, the impact of new technology on industry development is not to be ignored. There is a wealth of resources available to help the garment industry advance its level of technology. These resources include machinery manufacturers, technology centres, educational institutions, and research organisations.
“Every ITMA showcase attracts leading machinery makers to launch their latest products, as well as high-level industry professionals and researchers from all over the world. Therefore, it is a useful one-stop shop for our industry members to know about new industry trends, and discover new innovative solutions to help drive their business forward.”
ITMA 2011 has the support of all the world’s leading textile and garment machinery associations. Exhibits are classified into 17 separate chapters, including machinery and accessories from the following sectors - spinning, winding and texturing, web formation, weaving, knitting and hosiery, embroidery, braiding, garment making and textile processing, dyeing and finishing, dyestuffs and chemicals, testing and measuring, software, recycling, logistics, plant operations, research and education and other textile services. Some of the highlights of the show are being launched as part of ITMA’s 60th anniversary celebration.
The event will be held at the modern Fira de Barcelona Gran Vía venue in Barcelona, Spain from 22 to 29 September 2011. The 100,000sqm net exhibition is expected to attract over 1,400 international exhibitors and over 120,000 trade visitors.
Dubai is expected to rise further in the 2010 ‘top fashion cities of the world’ ranking after climbing up 13 positions from 24th in 2007 to 11th currently, according to the French Fashion University Esmod (FFUE) in Dubai, the regional arm of the renowned Esmod International Fashion University Group. Trends in the local fashion scene point towards a further rise in the rankings, which are compiled by Global Language Monitor and set to be released in July this year.
Dubai is the only city in the Arab World to enter the list of the top 30 global fashion cities and the second only to Hong Kong in Asia, according to the report. Esmod Dubai pointed that Arabian styles are already influencing European street fashion while celebrity designers such as Christian Lacroix have been incorporating Arab-inspired ensembles into their wardrobe. The University will be sending its students, many of them Emiratis, on a trip to Tokyo, Japan from March 23 to 31, 2010 to expose them to the Japanese fashion scene in order to widen their fashion knowledge and broaden the scope and appeal of Arab fashion.
“Tokyo is well-known for its creative fashion and haute couture. Our students can learn a lot from the city’s designers on how to harmonize colors and innovatively match clothing.Like Dubai,Tokyo also enjoys applying traditional designs to contemporary fashion,” said Tamara Hostal, Director and Founder, French Fashion University Esmod Dubai. “Our visit to Japan will reinforce our mission that our students should continue to explore all kinds of fashion styles and techniques in order to enhance their creativity and broaden their range. While Dubai is confidently ready to retain its status as the Middle East’s fashion hub, its fashion sector also has the potential to attract the world markets, even the more established ones such as Japan. This is our vision for our students, to imbue their works with a mixture of Arabic and international spirit and prove that our region’s fashion is at par with the world’s best,” she added.
The French Fashion University Esmod Dubai regularly brings students to major fashion hubs to meet top designers, gain valuable insights from fabric manufacturers across the world, and join professional fashion shows and exhibitions. During their stay in Japan, Esmod Dubai students will examine the works of prominent Japanese designers such as Kenzo, Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo, and Undercover. They will also have the chance to buy fabrics and supplies for pattern making. The University’s next educational tour will be in France.
The University is one of 21 fashion schools under the umbrella of Esmod International Fashion University Group, the world’s first and oldest fashion design school. Esmod Dubai offers a 3-years diploma program equivalent to a BA degree; publicly-accessible short programs and customized short courses in make-up and fashion.
Men who love their stylish denim will discover a new dimension in jean comfort and fit this coming fall thanks to the introduction of DRT Jeans by Dish Jeans Ltd., makers of the Dish and Desi jeans labels for women. Targeted for distribution among independent retailers throughout North America, DRT Jeans puts a new twist on eco-friendly fashion.
“Each year, 67 pounds of clothing per person ends up in landfills,” says DRT Jeans Creative and Design Director Donald Johannesson. “DRT’s philosophy is a bit organic and, while we use some organic fabrics in the collection, we believe the real environmental issue is one of quality. The better the product, the longer it will last and use up less of the world’s limited resources.”
As its name suggests, DRT Jeans was conceived as denim with an earthy style sensibility characterized by classic indigo ringspun designs available in diverse fits, fabric washes and finishes that appeal to varied consumer tastes. The brand’s eco-sensitive stance challenges the prevalence of disposable, fast-fashion garments by investing in a design and production process that creates a better jean.
The styles in the DRT Jeans assortment share a durability achieved through the reinforcement of five key stress areas in each jean:
- Back pockets feature extra fabric to avoid the consumer’s wallet wearing through.
- Belt loops are inserted into the waistband and reinforced with bar tacks to secure them.
- Hems have extra fabric sewn on the inside to prevent the back hem from falling apart due to fraying.
- Front pockets are riveted to keep seams intact.
- Front pocket bags have an extra chain stitch – the strongest stitch in jeans construction – and a bartack at the bottom to ensure nothing falls through.
In addition to giving consumers a quality jean with a longer life, DRT Jeans enhances their wearing experience with construction that improves the fit and performance of select styles using design inspired by ergonomics.
Two of the “ergo” styles, a slim-straight style named Marcus 1 and a motorcycle jean called Marcus 2, are designed to complement the hectic lifestyles of young men on the go with darts at the front knee and seaming at the back of the knee to mold the jean to the wearer’s body. A seamed back yoke allows the jean to conform to the wearer’s back, creating an almost aerodynamic silhouette that mimics the body’s natural shape and movement, bringing new meaning to the phrase “form follows function.”
Style-wise, DRT Jeans has something for everyone. Consumers who prefer classic looks with a roomier fit can select from the label’s range of bootcut, relaxed straight and slim-straight cuts while hipsters can make their trendy style statements in DRT’s slouchy fits with rolled hems or skinny tapered jeans worn with boots.
DRT Jeans offers premium denim quality at accessible prices ranging. Sizes include 28 through 40.
Founded in 1998 asa surf lifestyle brand then purchased in 2001 by denim industry veteran Gary Lenett, Vancouver-based Dish Jeans Ltd. manufactures and markets the contemporary women’s brand Dish Jeans, DESI, a line of stylish denim with functional benefits for women ages 35+, and the newly launched DRT Jeans for men. Dish Jeans Ltd. distributes premium quality denim and sportswear at independent retailers throughout North America.

The sharp drop in cotton prices in the previous years has led to a sharp drop in cotton production in South Africa, raising concerns within the textile sector.
Over the last five years, cotton production has nearly gone down by 50 percent, leading the African Cotton Association (ACA) to say that the sector faced an acute crisis.
The ACA President was of the opinion that, rising input costs and falling prices in previous years, was weaning away farmers to cultivating more remunerative crops.
Cotton production has fallen by 42 percent over the last five years, to 1.17 million tons. Around 25 million South Africans are dependent on the cotton value-chain.
The President once again urged the US and EU to end subsidies to their cotton farmers to help African countries realize better prices and in turn grow more cotton.
