LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s leading luxury group, achieved revenue of €14.2 billion in the first nine months of 2010, an increase of 19% compared to the same period in 2009.
With organic revenue growth of 14%, the third quarter confirmed the trends observed since the start of the year. Momentum continued to be very strong in Asia, Europe and America. Louis Vuitton once again achieved double-digit organic revenue growth.
The Fashion & Leather Goods business group achieved a 20% revenue increase during the first nine months of the year. With double-digit organic revenue growth in the period, Louis Vuitton confirmed its exceptional, global brand appeal. The leather goods lines Monogram and Damier achieved strong growth. A new line will be launched in the fourth quarter. Since the beginning of the year, strong momentum has returned to Fendi and Donna Karan. The other fashion brands achieved good growth during the third quarter.
In Perfumes & Cosmetics, revenue grew 14% in the first nine months of 2010. Christian Dior benefited from the worldwide success of its perfumes. The successful roll-out of its lipstick also contributed to the remarkable performance of the brand. The launches of Abeille Royale, Guerlain’s new skincare range, and of the feminine version of Givenchy’s Play, are some of the numerous initiatives that took place in the third quarter. Benefit continued to expand its distribution network into Asia and Europe.
The Watches & Jewelry business group recorded revenue growth of 29% in the first nine months of 2010. TAG Heuer continued its successful worldwide expansion and benefited from the new models launched for its 150th anniversary celebration. Hublot gained market share due to the excellent performance of its Big Bang and King Power lines. Zenith’s new collections were very favourably received. The jewelry brands Chaumet, Fred and De Beers also enjoyed strong growth.
The Selective Retailing business group achieved revenue growth of 17% in the first nine months of 2010. DFS further benefited from the significant increase in Asian travellers. Sephora recorded comparable store revenue growth in all its regions. The progress in online sales continued. The rhythm of expansion of its store network continued.

The excellent performance of LVMH in the first nine months of the year has confirmed its confidence for 2010. The Group will continue its proactive strategy focused on innovation and targeted geographical expansion in the most promising markets. According to EU Statistics Bureau, EU's import value of apparel decreases by 4.4% in first half. The import volume of apparel from Asian countries especially from China drops drastically with the rate of 6.1%. Apparels from EU's third largest supplier of apparel, Bengal also reduces by 5.4%. According to the French Textile Report, China's export volume of apparel to EU only increased by 1% since 2009.
The report also analyzes reasons behind this fall. First one is the depreciation of US dollars against Euros. Second one is that the rise of salary in China, Bengal and Southeast Asia countries. Moreover, China seems to pay more attention to its domestic market. At the same time, Chinese businessmen don’t take foreign counterparts as their priority.
Manish Malhotra, Furne One and “Neon Edge”’s Mona Fares are set to light up Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) with their stunning Spring/Summer 2011 (SS11) collections between 24th and 28th October. In preparation, Capital Marketing, DFW owners and organisers, are pulling out all the stops to ensure DFW SS11 is better than ever, with a top-level line up of the regions hottest designers.
Debuting at this season’s DFW are the local talents of Abeer Al Suwaidi of “USH Boutique”, Sara Al Madani & Apple Wang of “Rouge Couture”, and Lamya Abedin of “Queen of Spades”. Designers returning to the catwalk include Aartivijay Gupta, Shrehkanth, Amber Feroz, and Homa Qamar to name a few.

DFW SS11 sees a total of 40 designers set to delight attendees with their creations. The show, now in its 8th season also moves to a brand new venue; Asateer at Atlantis The Palm, providing a much bigger venue, that is more in tune with the much anticipated growth of Dubai Fashion Week.
Rohit Sabikhi, Dubai Fashion Week General Manager, said a few changes to the show have been announced. “DFW SS11 will have 30 shows over five days. The show timings have also been revised with shows starting and ending earlier. Both changes have been incorporated to give more time and flexibility to designers and buyers.”
Showcasing for the first time at DFW are the SS11 Emerging Talent winners presented by Max and co-founder whose show will be open to the public on 26th October at 2.00 pm. Designers include: Sachin Gada, Niteesh Singh Chauhan who are both based in India, and Dubai based Susan Jacob, Nova Krishnan, Samah Ali and Nasrine Dechache. These six exciting new designers were selected from a shortlist of twelve and will each début five runway designs at DFW SS11, in addition to an exhibition stand providing them with a platform to interact with business-driven associations.
Established in 2006, the Emerging Talent competition was created to showcase the work of the many talented amateur designers in the Middle East. Entries and submissions come from a wide range of designers, from students to existing fashion designers looking for exposure in the dynamic fashion industry. The competition has cemented itself as an opportunity for industry experts as well as fashion lovers to get a sneak peek into some ofthe region’s up and coming designers.
Marc Robinson, DFW’s official Show Director and co-founder, added, “DFW SS11 will be bigger, more energetic and a fashion display like never before in the Middle East. Unique original designs, new trends and a fresh outlook on hair and make up will bring visible enhancement to the shows.
